It's hard to believe our boy is 5. We celebrated with a birthday party a few weeks ago so for his real birthday we went out with Gran and Pappy to a fun restaurant downtown...a first experience for these kids, and they loved it. Optimus Prime was the theme of birthday gifts, and it's fun (and a little sad) to see Andrew very slowly making a shift from an absolute focus to all things cars. His interest has now been peaked by superheros and transformers...but he has not left cars completely. He is such a fun and sweet boy. He's so smart and loves to learn. He's really fast and loves to run and climb. He plays so well with his sisters and is actually becoming really helpful at entertaining Aimee when Spencer or I need him to. He's getting better at wrestling and playing rough with other boys, but remains a very sensitive child. He loves acting silly, telling silly stories, making up silly words. And he loves going on dates with mommy or daddy. His spirit continues to grow and understand and question more about who God is. Although some days he doesn't seem to care at all (don't we all have grumpy days?) on other days his prayers go much deeper than they have before and his grasp of what Jesus has done for him gets bigger. he's very concerned about following rules (and especially about making Kaitlyn follow rules, who doesn't care about the rules or like them very much at all), and we're working with him on letting go and relaxing. He loves to dance with his sisters, run and chase with bigger boys, and act silly with anyone who will join him. We love our special boy!
