always something new

we're finding with our kids, and the seasons and cycles that they go through, that there is always something new and unexpected right around the next corner. Tonight it is Kaitlyn upstairs screaming her head off for the past hour instead of going to sleep (we've been up there about 4 times now and given her every kind of teething medicine we own). She won't even lay down...she's just standing up at the side of her crib screaming. She's been sleeping pretty well lately and she always goes down without a problem, even if she does have problems later on in the night. Tonight we're left wondering what to do with her and my anxiety level is through the roof :-) I believe she will stop eventually, but I have no hope that it will be anytime soon (based on her past history).

Most of the time, though, the new and unexpected things are good things. When Andrew loves on kaitlyn or becomes super helpful to me. When Kaitlyn is old enough to understand things in a new way. I was changing Kaitlyn's diaper tonight and didn't have any wipes on the table. I asked Andrew to go get me some and he ran in the bathroom to grab them. When he came back he handed them to me and said, "this is the peace of Christ." What? We talked some about what that actually means and had a good laugh. He is such a fun loving boy. He's had a lot of time lately to play with friends and he LOVES to play with his friends! it is so fun to watch him...he is wild and so silly. Kaitlyn follows him around, calls him something that sounds like "day day" and wants to play whatever he is playing. She is such a sweet girl and always on the move. She is an explorer and walks around the house getting into whatever new things she can get into. (usually while carrying playdough). She's getting quick on her feet quickly! She picked up my phone the other day and tried very hard to put it in her pocket. When that failed she dropped it down her sweater...and of course it kept going until it hit the floor, but she kept trying. She knows I keep it in my pocket.

We love these kiddos...even when kaitlyn lies awake screaming for hours :-)
