busy times

We've had a busy week around here for a number of reasons, but one in particular is that we started a form of potty training. I thought I knew what system I would use but as we got into things it has evolved into one that seems to be working out ok for me and Andrew. Neither one of us are up for staying inside all day for many days. We would both go crazy...in fact, just one day seemed to put us over the edge :-) So when we're home, for chunks of our days, we bring out the potty. He hasn't seemed to mind sitting on it that much...as long as he has some music, something to function as a guitar (aka. his bat), books that I can read to him, and the promise of stickers and m&ms if he's successful. Every day brings more success which is a good thing because I have been very tempted to give it up alltogether many times now. In fact, everytime I've been ready to put this concept away for another time of life he'll come to me and say he has to go potty. So we'll keep trucking along for as long as it takes :-)

speaking of potty training, we went to the zoo this morning with our friends Beth and Carson. Carson is 2 1/2 and is potty trained so the few times he needed to go to the bathroom Andrew wanted to go as well. We would go and sit on the bit potty which is a huge step for him (even though he never actually did anything in the potty). Small steps right?

Andrew was definitely starting to panic and cry in this picture out of fear of the gorrilla. We had to back the stroller up quite a ways until he believed it wasn't going to come through the glass to get him. (one issue was that he was waving his granola bar around in front of the gorrilla's face as he was panicking :-)

one of their favorite zoo exhibits...they did a great job sharing the driver's seat.

this picture is from a couple weeks ago at our friend Ana's house. She is 18 months old and her house will forever be associated with the swimming pool in Andrew's mind.
